The warehouse operator is the professional responsible for ensuring the smooth running of logistics operations within a warehouse or distribution centre. Their main duties include:
Main duties of a warehouse operator
- Receiving goods: Checks the quantity and quality of products received, verifies invoices and records the entry of items in the warehouse management system.
- Storage and organisation: Identifies, classifies and stores products in the appropriate locations, optimising space and facilitating the future location of items.
- Stock control: Performs periodic inventories, keeps an up-to-date record of entries and exits, and helps prevent losses or stock shortages.
- Order picking and dispatch: Picks products according to orders, packs and prepares them for dispatch, ensuring that the correct items are sent to the right customers.
- Loading and unloading: Loads and unloads goods using equipment such as forklifts, pallet trucks or automated systems.
- Maintaining cleanliness and safety: Keeps the environment clean and organised, following safety and hygiene standards to prevent accidents and ensure product integrity.
- Recording and documentation: Prepares and checks shipping documents, records movements in the system, and reports irregularities or damage to products.
