Description
A bricklayer is a professional who is responsible for the construction, repair or renovation of structures such as houses, walls, floors, walls and other elements of building construction. Their work ranges from laying the foundations to completing the structure and may include the following:
- Reading and interpreting architectural and construction plans
- Preparing and levelling the building site
- Laying bricks, blocks and prefabricated structures
- Building walls, fences, pavements and foundations
- Plastering and rendering interior and exterior walls
- Laying floors, tiles and coverings
- Opening door and window openings
- Constructing ceilings, stairs and concrete structures
- General finishing (filling, grouting, etc.)
- Maintenance and renovation of residential and commercial premises
In addition, bricklayers may work in various specialist areas, such as:
- Bricklayers for masonry (erection of walls and structures)
- Bricklayers for finishing (cladding and finishing)
- Foundation bricklayers (excavation and structuring of foundations)
- Hydraulic bricklayers (installation of pipes and sewers)
